Q. Can I reset my statistics?

A. Your statistics are located on the Skill Data page. You can not reset your account with Grockit. Many people ask about resetting their account because they want to clear out their performance analytics and start over. You can use the customized data range in your profile analytics to see the report on the specific time frame you want to view by clicking the ‘All Time’ drop-down menu at the top right and adjust it to Today, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, or Last 60 Days.

Q. What does my percentile mean?

A. You will receive a percentile score upon completing each Diagnostic and Challenge in Grockit. This score indicates the percentage of Grockit users that you have scored above in that section of the exam. For example, if you scored in the 80% percentile on your SAT Math Diagnostic, this means that you outscored 4 out of 5 fellow Grockit users in SAT Math.  You can find this on your Skill Data page under achievements.

Q. Does Grockit provide a score prediction?

A. Diagnostics and challenges provide  Grockit percentile rankings that may be correlated to section-specific score ranges on the actual exam. GMAT students receive score predictions after completing each full-length CAT exam. As more users take diagnostics, challenges  or CATs, our score prediction becomes more accurate.  Our prediction is based on a similar algorithm to the one used on the GMAT, which is based on the number of questions of a certain difficulty answered correctly.  You can find this on your Skill Data page.

Q. What Time Zone are Grockit times listed in?

A. The time you see listed for Grockit games, in emails, and with videos are set to the time zone you select in your profile. To verify or change your time zone, go to “Edit Profile.”

A. Grockit requires an internet connection with broadband speeds. We recommend a minimum of 3 mbps while using our game platform and a minimum of 5 mbps for streaming our video content.  Some users outside of the US have experienced a slow connection due to their Internet speeds. If you continue to have the same problem in multiple browsers, you can write us directly at getsatisfaction@grockit.com.

GMAT

Q. What types of practice are available?

A. Your Practice tab offers four types of practice.

1. For a score prediction, you can take section-specific diagnostics listed under Getting Started. Once you have completed the diagnostics, challenges of 10-12 questions each will appear at the bottom of the Practice page.

2. Smart Practice allows you to start answering questions immediately.

3. To study specific GMAT® topics and difficulty levels launch Custom Practice

4. You can use the feature Full Length Computer Adaptive Test 5 times!

Q. What is a diagnostic?

A. Diagnostics are intended to be used by students to get a baseline assessment of their performance in a certain section of the exam. Diagnostics should be taken early on in a student’s study plan, and also inform Grockit’s algorithm of the best questions to serve up moving forward. Diagnostics are 12-15 ‘adaptive’ questions; each successive question in a given diagnostic is determined by the cumulative performance on the previously answered ones. You will find the Diagnostics listed under the Getting Started section on the Practice page.

Q. What is a Challenge?

A. Once you have completed a diagnostic, 10-questions challenges will appear at the bottom of the Practice page.  Challenges are periodically loaded into a student’s study plan as a practice exercise in a given section. Challenges provide students with 10-12 questions that are generally more difficult than a student’s estimated ability level, and each successive question adapts based on the cumulative performance on the previously answered ones.

Q. What is Smart Practice?

A. Smart Practice is targeted to identify your strengths and weaknesses and will ‘serve up’ questions based on your greatest areas of opportunity. Gaming mechanics are built in to the experience. Some of these include: XP, GP, Leveling Up and Achievement Badges.

Q. How do I customize my practice or target specific skills?

A. You may “create your own” study session with any section, difficulty or skill combination you like.  Under the practice tab, you launch Smart Practice or select Custom Practice:

  • Click “Customize difficulty and specific skills” to pick the difficulty setting and the content areas you’d like to study.

  • For solo practice, set the custom game “Player Limit” to 1; otherwise, others will be able to join.

  • You can play immediately or schedule the game for later

Q. How do I use the Study Plan feature?

A. We’ve divided our curriculum into comprehensive clusters of material that target specific groups of skills. By targeting one cluster at a time, you learn the best strategies for each type of question and identify your strengths and weaknesses in each area of the exam. For each completed study task, you’ll receive a bronze, silver or gold medal that indicates your performance. If you are unsatisfied with your performance, we suggest you review the questions you’ve answered and restart the task to improve your score. When your performance improves, you will be awarded the next trophy, indicating your progress.  To start your Study Plan, click Study Plan tab. We suggest you start with Study Plan and the Diagnostics before customizing your practice and targeting your skills.

Q. How does Group Practice work?

A. The Group Practice tab allows you to create Live Practice Sessions as well as schedule Upcoming Practice Sessions. See one that you want to join? Hop right in or RSVP for later.  You can use Facebook and Twitter to socially announce to your friends that you are playing a game and ask them to join you. If you’d like to share your game with other Grockit users, simply copy the game URL link and email that link to any friends you want to join that game.

Q. Do you have Full Length Tests?

Every Grockit GMAT Member will have access to 5 CATs, complete with a GMAT score projection based on your performance.

Grockit models its CAT on the official GMAC(R) literature and its score projections on the collected item response data from all Grockit users and score-reporting graduates. We recommend that you complete CATs periodically throughout the course of your studies leading up to your test date to get experience with a Computer Adaptive Test and to give you feedback on your performance and progress over time. In conjunction with Diagnostics (abbreviated CATs of 10 to 12 questions), Challenges, and an extensive library of practice questions, students on Grockit have access to the most comprehensive, personal platform for GMAT prep. Full-length GMAT CATs now appear at the bottom of the Practice page.

You can use the customized data range in your profile analytics to see the report on the specific time frame you want to view by clicking the ‘All Time’ drop-down menu at the top right and adjust it to Today, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, or Last 60 Days.
